Mark! You ass hole! Why did you make me cry? My 12 year old golden has been sick lately and there is nothing I can do but hold her and reassure her that she will be OK. But what about me? What about me?
Catching up with the show. Just listened to Mikey & you reminiscing. Loved it! Also loved how smart & what an inspiration he is! And also listened to episode 10. Mark…. don’t ever worry about how long an episode is. If you didn’t blather on & on & on we wouldn’t know it was you! Lovin’ you! 😁
Hi Mark, I Love listening to you. I started with KLOS and am still a fan.
Songs I hate: Smoke on the Water, Hotel California, All I Want for Christmas is You, and Eileen.
I am so scared of what might happen to our wonderful country, our social security, medicare, pensions, investments, and national forests with Trump and his YES people in charge. I worry about what is in store for our 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. I’m 72 closing in on my 73rd birthday, so I’ve seen and experienced a lot, but Trump really scares me.
Crying at the end. I’ve only had 2 cats in my 65 years. They were such a joy and warm presence that is even more realized now that they’re gone. They loved each other as much as we adored them.
Re: Andy Chanley. MITM memory.
A caller tells Mark he once gave him a keychain.
Mark: “I don’t remember, and I threw it out.”
Andy: laughs the best longest laugh ever.
Jesus, thanks for making me cry like a baby. Hooty Hoo. Long time listener. Just put down my MIni Schnauzer and bestest friend of 18.5 years. Then had to put down my Covid kitty at 6, for a brain tumor. This year has sucked, except for finding you on the interwebs…
Mark, are you trying to turn us into a bunch of pussies after reading that poem at the end of the last episode??!?
I was at work and trying not to cry at my desk. Thanks for that!! 🙂
Two things. First in regards to the Bob Jones take. I have been a doctor for 15 years, ok a dentist but calm down. It sounds to me like he is having a stroke.
Next, as to your interview with Andy. Can you please play the bit where he posts a song with a 5 minute intro? The one where he says we’re going down Main Street and up yours.
Listening to you read the poem at the end of the podcast and feeling your emotions through my earbuds, hit home personally for me. My family is experiencing this currently. Our little 8 pound mixed breed sweetheart of an angel in the form of a dog is closing in on 15 years old. To say she is a miracle dog is an understatement. She is not yet at the stage of making that final decision but she is obviously going downhill slowly. In May of 2010, she was the size of a soda can and my 16 year old son accidentally stepped on her one week to the day that we got her. She let out a piercing yelp and my son screamed. When I got to her she was unconscious and not breathing. My wife picked her up and cupped her hand over her nose and performed rescue breathing for about 15 minutes before she began breathing on her own. She was still unconscious and we rushed her to the vet. They immediately began working on her and the vet told us to go home and he would see how it would go. 3 days later she got to come home. From that day she has been by my side every moment.
Fast forward to April 19 2022. That was the day I found my 27 year old son deceased from a sudden and invisible medical condition. Our family is extremely close and his death crushed us. Over the days following his passing, she obviously knew I was heartbroken. She would lay her head on me as if she was saying it will be ok. Now as her last days close in, I will be there for her and will miss my sweet little friend.
Thank you Mark for that beautiful and true poem. I am convinced dogs are a gift from God.
I’ve listened to your book twice now and enjoyed it immensely. Much more so because it was you reading it. Great book!
Please tell Eleni, and I mean this in the best way possible, the new theme song she wrote for your show is an earworm. If she doesn’t know what that is, please explain it to her. Great job Eleni!
Mark,,, I’m gonna kill you. How about the next time you’re gonna end the show with a tear jerker,,, give a heads up! I was driving, listening and COMPLETELY broke down. I share your love of dogs, I’ve had 18 foster dogs, need I say more? Beautiful tribute Asshat. Thanks 🙏
Hey Mark, I forgot to add to my comment that Neal Ford’s story reminded me of the episode 1968 in the miniseries From the Earth to the Moon. I’m sure you’ve seen the miniseries.
