Hi Mark, love the show. I’m glad you mentioned how you listen to it and learn what works and what doesn’t. It is definitely noticeable! I noticed how each podcast got better and better and back to shenanigans. So glad you’re back with a weekly podcast. I’d love to hear more stories like the little sink… That was gold!
Thanks, Mark.
I really wanted to cry two weeks in a row listening to the Pod. You are correct though, we are our pets lives, we are everything to them. We have two dogs, a 50/50 Pit/German Shepherd mix and a Australian Cattle dog. Both are make my day better just walking through the door at the end of a work day.
Second. OMG. That Joan Osborne cut of What Becomes of the Broken Hearted was EFFING phenomenal. I listened to the song 6 times back to back. Absolute perfection.
Thanks and Merry and Happy to you, Linda and the Fam.
Mark!!!! Joe Moore!!!! OMG!!! What a fascinating interview! Thank God for men & women like him willing to stick their neck out for the safety & peace of others! I feel safer knowing he’s out there! And as always…great job by you! I’m just catching up on some episodes so sorry if this is an old subject but i just had to comment on this brilliant interview!
Hello Mark, I am with you about the love of a dog. When your time with Red was coming to an end you and Lynda talked about it on the podcast. I listened attentively because I knew my time with mine was coming sooner than later. She let me know that it was time the night before. My vet has had many goldens. He was her vet for her entire life and he was my friend. On the ride to the vet, she had her head out the window and smiling. For the first time in her life, she would not let the vet tech take her back. I had to walk her in. When the vet walked out I knew what he was going to say. He said he could keep her comfortable for a couple of days. I declined. I believe that would just extend both of our suffering. I stand behind the decision. So, I sat on the floor with her, held her head, stroked her with love and said, “Goodbye.” It hurt. Still does. And I don’t mind, At all. Up until today I was resolute that I would never have another dog. I don’t want to hurt that much again. But, thanks to you, you, the old wise asshole suggested another perspective. Do I deprive a dog the deep love that I have from another dog? I don’t know, but thanks for the thought. One of the reasons I have been listening to you for decades, is for the shenanigans, the history, your knowledge, your humor and ability to share all of it but, above all of that is your heart. Thank you, Mark. Maybe take a week off from the tears?
I really enjoy your “This Week In History” and was thinking that since time is chronological, it’d be interesting to try playing the included segments for that week in chronological order from earliest to most recent. Sort of a group travel through time.
Song everyone else likes, but I’d live a very happy never hearing again “Stairway to Heaven”
And I will walk through fire to turn off “B-b-b-b-Benny and the Jets” 🙂
Thanks a lot asshole. I’m on the treadmill at the gym and you started talking about Elvis and Red. Then you began the story of what happened to Red and what you went through at the end. So tough. I’ve been there and I understand. But I’m walking on the treadmill, tears streaming down my cheeks, lower lip quivering, and people are walking by looking at me like “Jesus Christ mister. If you hate the fucking treadmill that much just get off of it”. So, thanks so much for making me look like a big ol’ fat pussy!
With all due respect I hate It’s a wonderful day in the neighborhood by Mr.
Rogers. I would rather have a lash in my eye. His Happy birthday is nearly as insufferable.
I don’t know Mark… You just said that they love you more. Your dogs. Maybe, Maybe. But fuck an a??? I fucking love them. It goes way too fast. I’ve had to put down a few dogs and it destroys me every time!!! And I say never again and within a few months there’s another one. I’m 56 and have had to put down two dogs within the last 4 years. Agh I said never again. We got another one. A mini golden doodle. Mabel. already hurts me to think I may outlive her. and then two weeks ago we got Minnie. A mutt. Thrown out of a car at a marching band practice at a local high school. I LOVE HER!!! She is ugly and a misfit and I wouldn’t have her any other way! Her eyebrows stick out, her hair is wirey, she’s skinny and funky. The older I get the uglier my dogs can become and we are good!
Oh yeah. The worst song ever… Europe,,, The Final Countdown. Such a whiney bitch!!! It’s horrible and so hard to listen to!!!
BTW Mabel just showed up because I was taking too long to write this message. A complete moppy mess! Now she is waiting for me to take her outside for a 30 second exploration! You know how it goes.
Hi Mark! I caught up on a couple of your podcasts while on a 12 hour flight from Switzerland to LA. I might have dozed off a little bit, but I appreciated the chance to listen and kill some time with some quality stuff from you in my head. Keep up the good work! Lovin’ you.
