Hi Mark. I’m letting you know about your best bud Dwight Yoakam’s great interview he did on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast. There’s a chance you already heard it but if not…. it’s so good. It would be even cooler if you were to get Dwight on your show. That guy can talk…… And talk……. And it’s always interesting. Keep up the great show. My sister Maggie says Hi.
Mark im catching up on old episodes and just listened to episode 13. The comments you read from those two former listeners just makes me want to listen harder. I know in your line of work you have to remain neutral but I understand the importance of taking a stand. Thank you for being you. Argar largar.
Damn you RG!! You made me cry yet again at the end of the “Christmas Show” episode of your podcast! Not only with your words of sincere (I think) thanks to your listeners, but also the fact that you had Chuck Moshontz on the program with his reading of the Polar Express. And, as I learned, that Chuck is a fellow Mental Health therapist in Portland, just over the bridge from where I live. Geez Mark, good job producing the waterworks.
I just finished reading Joe Moore’s book White Robes and Broken Badges. I remember being very intrigued by your interview with him on 10/4. All I can say is Wow!! What an incredibly courageous and dedicated human Joe is!! If you’ve read the book, I would love to hear your thoughts about it!
Hi Mark,
I have listened to you since KLOS. Mark and Brian provided comfort in my difficult job which you can’t imagine. I love your podcasts. I would like to be on your podcast because I think it would be important . I would love to talk about the importance of learning CPR. I was a paramedic for 34 years for LAFD, and I also trained, dispatched, and created the new dispatch system that revolutionized lifesaving technology for LA. I want people to help people. CPR is simple, highly disregarded, and will make a difference. I have taught CPR for 30 + years. I am well-spoken, trying to write a book on the subject, wrote many manuals. You are the Radio God. I listen to you and hope you see this.
Thought I’d finally share a silly Christmas tradition my coworker and I have been doing. One day, about 15 years ago during Christmas, my coworker popped in her iPod to her desk speaker for some Christmas music. That day, she chose the live Mark and Brian Christmas show that had Eddie Money as a guest. Well, Eddie comes out, the band starts playing and he starts off by shouting to the crowd, “Happy Holidays Everybody! You wanna feel good or what!?”
Well, we started thinking how funny of an opening line that was and had a good laugh. So she played it again the next day and we laughed. and then the next. And since then, for the entire month of December, every work day begins with Eddie Money threatening us with some holiday cheer and music. LOL!! We even gather other coworkers around her desk for the fun.
We crack up that we’ve been doing this ridiculous thing for so long and I thought, “You know who’d love this? Mark Thompson!” So thought I’d share the story of how the Eddie Money Christmas tradition came to be.
Hey Mark,
So happy to hear you every week. The show is fucking awesome, you are really in your grove and element.
Keep it up up and rock on my brother!!
Happy New Year!

Hi Mark, Loved the Christmas podcast. Thank you for the update on Chuck Moshontz. I have the original cassette recording of his reading The Polar Express. (when you all told us to press ‘record’ in ancient times). This is the only rendition my kids have ever known and yes, hit the nail on the head when you said it was his ‘fatherhood’ shining through. Many thanks as always.
Hey Mark! SRL and skank Rachelle Hanson here… just wanted to say I loved the Christmas show – and the song at the end – now THAT was a good, no GREAT song! Hope you had a wonderful Xmas and New Years! Loving you.
A few episodes back a stupid replaceable listener suggested re-naming the podcast. I agree! (Hear me out!) With all the Weird and Wacky tales I think it should be named “What NOT to do!”
Nah, screw that! Keep everything the way it is!
Also, a few months back you mentioned how much you liked “McFarland, USA.”
Well, I have a couple more little known movies that I think you’ll love. First, is “Hard Miles” (2024) with Matthew Modine. It’s based on a true story of a cycling coach who takes a crew of incarcerated youth for a bike ride from Denver to the Grand Canyon.
The second movie, and be forewarned it’s a Dog Movie, is “Arthur the King.” Also based on a true story and starring Mark Wahlburg (So, you know it doesn’t suck!)
Love to hear your thoughts on both movies. Hope you and the entire family have a Merry Christmas!
Evening Mark, just wanted to say great Christmas Show, loved the Christopher Tester segment, the best was having Chuck on a listening to the Polar Express gets me every time you play it, definitely one of my Top 5 from the M&B days. Merry Christmas to you and the rest of the Thompson Family may you all have a wonderful holiday.
Cheers from N. Idaho 🥃🥃
P.S. side note the song you picked for AC/DC didn’t come from the Black in Black album. 😆😆
Mark,
What a great show with Christopher Tester and Chuck Moshanz.
Wishing you and the family a wonderful Christmas and new year.
